SANDING, STAINING & FINISHING

Step 1: Initial preparation

Fast Procedure for a Lasting Effect

Our goal is always to save you time and money while keeping disruptions at a minimum.

To achieve these goals, we follow a six-step solution process that can be completed in three to four days on average.

To prepare the sanding and refinishing process, all furniture are removed from the designated areas; air ventilators are blocked to minimize exposure to dust to the rest of the house, and a plastic film is hung over entrances and exits to minimize dust diffusion to surrounding areas.

Step 2: Sanding & Conditioning:

Our professional crew has at its disposition state-of-the-art sanding equipment and powerful vacuum system to maintain dust particles to a minimum spread. Thereafter, our crew conducts a three-stage sanding process to remove the old solid finish and discolored stain to ensure an even leveling of the hardwood floors bringing out its natural texture.

After the first rough sanding, wood filler is applied onto the surface of the entire sanded floor in order to seal cracks, crevices, and repaired imperfections. Once the wood filler has dried, the hardwood floor is sanded once again with a finer grade of sand paper to remove the remaining rough patches and even up the floor surface area. Thereafter, the floor is screened with a finer sand screen in order to remove any sand paper traces left by previous sanding stage.

Finally, a buffer machine is used to eliminate any unnoticeable scratches hard to detect by the naked eye and in low luminous areas.

Step 3: Staining:

Our experienced crew abides by National Wood Flooring Association Standards of North America for the proper application of residential finish coats. Finishing coats are essential to the durability of all type of hardwood floors and therefore we generally recommend applying at least three protective coats of the desired brand after the staining process.

We also conduct buffing screening after two coats of finishing to achieve the clearest and transparent finish possible for your floors.

Step 4: Finishing:

Jr Hardwood Flooring offers a wide range of water-based varnish products designed to achieve the proper shine and lustre of your floors. Among the type of finishes offered by our crew there are: matte finish, satin finish, semi-gloss finish, and high gloss finish. To achieve the highest quality of protective coating, we apply three costs of finish to complete the sealing process.

Step 5: Cleaning up for delivery

Throughout the renovating process our crew never leaves a mess behind

We use industrial vacuuming equipment to keep and maintain the working areas well ventilated in order to avoid the spread of fine dust to other areas
